Girls with ADHD

Girls with ADHD
  • Health Fitness

Girls with ADHD are often inattentive rather than hyperactive, though the combined type is common. Diagnosis is often later, after years of frustration and self-doubt about their difficulties socially and in school. A recent longitudinal study found that girls were at high risk for antisocial, mood, anxiety, and eating disorders by adulthood. Girls are particularly prone to substance abuse disorders, possibly related to later diagnosis or high levels of chronic stress.
