It was the decade of Watergate, Roe vs. Wade, bell bottoms, Annie Hall, Farrah Fawcett hair, Star Wars and Studio 54. The 1970s saw a return to a fluid female form; the midi replaced the mini, separates were emphasized and DVF's 1973 wraparound dress sold into the millions. The fashions that started on a folksy note became expressions of music into the decade with the rise of glam rock, punk rock, disco and the beginnings of new wave.
